Sea to Sky Hiking
Sea to Sky Hiking – The Sea to Sky corridor between Vancouver and Whistler is a world renowned outdoor adventure playground with some wonderfully varied hiking. This hotel based vacation samples many of the best hikes that draw people from around the world with a different one scheduled for each day. It’s not all exhausting fun and games though as our guides will also help showcase some of the incredible scenery that abounds on this area with visits to some of our beautiful local parks, waterfalls, scenic lookouts and even some wildlife viewing. We’ll show you the best of the Sea to Sky corridor with a local’s passion and enthusiasm.
DAY ONE – Leaving Vancouver we will transport you to Bowen Island in beautiful Howe Sound. Here you will experience your first hike as we climb to the top of Mt Gardner, the highest point on the island, for some wonderfully expansive views of Howe Sound and as far as Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast..
DAY TWO – Squamish is world renowned as a centre for rock climbing due to the presence of the Stawamus Chief a 600m (2000′) granite monolith. Our adventure for the day will be to hike up the back side of the Chief to the summit overlooking Howe Sound and Squamish. Later we will ride the Sea to Sky Gondola to access more incredible view trails and vistas over Howe Sound.
DAY THREE – We move on to Whistler today via an easier day that sees us hike to Cheakamus Lake, this 7.0 km total round trip with little or no elevation gain or loss takes us through the finest and largest remaining old growth forest in the lower mainland. Like stepping back into another era this Tolkienesque forest will take you breath away.
DAY FOUR – Today our hike takes place north of Whistler at the very end of the Sea to Sky region at Joffre Lakes Provincial Park. Here you will pass three stunning glacial lakes, each more beautiful than the last, with the final one in the high alpine with majestic mountain peaks and glaciers as its backdrop. There is no better hike in terms of scenic reward for the amount of effort in the whole region.
DAY FIVE – Our final day will see us hike the High Note Trail, one of Whistler’s finest scenic trails. This 10km trail is accessed via the Whistler Mountain lift system and the world famous, multi record breaking Peak-To-Peak Gondola, an experience not to be missed when in Whistler. You will get the chance to look down on Cheakamus Lake where you will have been hiking on day three. At the end of the day’s hike we will finish at the Roundhouse lodge on top of the mountain for a wonderful buffet BBQ. What a great way to replace the carbs you’ve lost over the course of the day!
DAY SIX – Time for a last look around Whistler before heading back down to Vancouver after lunch.
